Abstract

The natriuretic peptides are a family of structurally related hormones with diverse biologic actions. The therapeutic potential of the natriuretic peptides extends beyond acute decompensated heart failure, and more studies are needed to define fully the true therapeutic potential of this unique family of endogenous peptides.
