Abstract

Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) play many important physiological roles. They participate in classical excitatory neurotransmission to activate selected neuronal circuits, and their stimulation can modulate release of neurotransmitters or hormones that in turn can have additional actions.
