Abstract
A review of the literature reveals that primary tumors of the sphenoid sinus are rare. No vascular tumors of the sphenoid have been previously reported. Two patients with cavernous hemangiomas of the sphenoid sinus are presented, both of whom died of complications associated with the diagnostic biopsy. A review of the available routine and special diagnostic tests is presented. The importance of an awareness of vascular tumors in this region is stressed.
