Abstract

There are several key developmental pathways in pancreas development, including the Notch, Hedgehog, TGF-β, Wnt and EGF pathways. In this issue, 'Pancreatology and the Web' focuses on websites targeted toward these signaling pathways. The value of understanding the intricacies of these pathways and how they contribute to the formation of the pancreas during embryogenesis becomes essential in our studies to provide novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for two diseases that affect the pancreas, diabetes mellitus and pancreatic cancer.
