Abstract
Vascularized grafts can provide beneficial outcomes in cases of scaphoid fracture with proximal pole AVN. Vascularized grafting procedures in cases of Preiser's disease and Kienböck's disease also have resulted in significant improvement in patient symptoms and have allowed the preservation of radiocarpal joint motion. Definitive indications for vascularized grafting procedures still await the completion of comparative prospective studies to determine the superiority of these procedures over other intercarpal procedures in the treatment of carpal AVN and persistent non-unions.
