N2 - Evidence from the ischemic stroke literature has taught us that "time is brain" if one is to save the ischemic penumbra. Although less recognized, the same principle applies to intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), where different mechanisms of secondary brain damage also occur in the first few hours after symptom onset. For patients with ICH we have more limited and, at best, modestly efficacious treatment options.
