Abstract

Medical psychiatry inpatient units are distinct from regular inpatient psychiatric units by virtue of its patient population. These units provide integrated medical and psychiatric care in a unified setting to psychiatric patients with comorbid medical conditions. This chapter reviews administrative, clinical, educational, and research aspects of medical psychiatry inpatient units.
