Abstract

Analytic and experimental methods used for the study of force transmission through the carpus are summarized. Data on the force and pressure distribution under normal wrist conditions and after procedures used to treat Kienbock's disease are reviewed. Potential biomechanical factors causing the disease and possible directions of future studies are discussed.
