note = "Funding Information: Another key component of ACOSOG is the Central Specimen Bank (CSB), which is housed at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, and is funded by a separate U24 grant from the National Institutes of Health. Surgeon investigators are uniquely positioned to access biospecimens (including fresh tumors, normal tissues, plasma, and serum specimens) from patients who participate in clinical trials. These provide material for correlative science studies which use the expertise of many ACOSOG-affiliated basic and translational scientists with interests in DNA microarray, DNA methylation, and protein analysis. The CSB creates protocol-specific specimen kits that facilitate the acquisition, shipping, and processing of biospecimens. The specimens and clinical trial data are coordinated to provide a rich source of correlative research opportunities. ",
