Abstract
The choice of opponensplasty of the thumb should be based on the available donor muscle-tendon units, the overall condition of the hand, and a thorough discussion with the patient. Regardless of the muscle-tendon unit chosen, the principles of tendon transfer must be strictly adhered to to obtain optimal results.
