Abstract

Colonoscopy has been essential in the evaluation of colorectal symptoms and screening of colorectal cancer. Colonoscopy remains the gold standard for detecting and removal of colon polyps in hope of preventing colorectal cancer. This chapter will review the basic techniques of successful colonoscopy exam including colonoscopy intubation and extubation. It will also discuss the adjunctive imaging techniques such as chromoendoscopy and magnification endoscopy developed to help in detection of neoplastic lesions during the colonoscopy exam.
