Abstract
The literature on the use of statistics could easily fill a small library. The purpose of this paper is to provide a review of some statistical concepts that are commonly used in cancer research. Key statistical terms are explained and numerous statistical methods are discussed including hypothesis testing, regression, and survival analysis. In all cases, a specific example related to cancer research is included to demonstrate the use of the statistical method. Additional references, which give detailed descriptions of the statistical methods and their appropriate use, are provided for each topic.
