Abstract

The S-transform (ST) is used to study time-varying signals, revealing frequency changes through time. The application of the ST is limited by its substantial memory requirements. A sparse form of the ST (sST) is described that reduces memory requirements by an order of magnitude, yet faithfully reconstructs the original signal.
