Abstract

Quality metrics and measures have become common in medicine. ERCP has the highest adverse events rate among endoscopic procedures and requires substantial endoscopic skill. Gastointestinal societies, including the American Society for Gastrointesinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), have responded by developing quality indicators for ERCP. These indicators include process and outcome measures and can be used to measure and drive quality improvement in ERCP both for institutions and individuals. These can be divided into preprocedure, intraprocedure, and postprocedures timeframes and will be discussed in this chapter.
