Abstract

'Frequent filers' planning a trip abroad often seek advice from their primary care physician about a wide range of issues, including altitude sickness, jet lag, and accidents and injuries away from home. But perhaps the most challenging and worrisome aspect of international travel is infectious disease, ranging from Montezuma's revenge to malaria. To assist physicians in preparing patients for international travel, Dr Blair discusses immunizations and other preventive strategies for common travel-related infections and provides a list of resources for up-to-date travel medicine information.
