Abstract
Migraine is a disabling and highly prevalent disorder with a cumulative lifetime incidence of 7.4% in males and 21% in females [1]. Numerous advances have been made in recent years, which have helped to explain the complex pathophysiology of this disorder and have also helped to provide insight into new possibilities for treatment and prevention. These same advances have also served to legitimize migraine as a significant public health concern with true neurobiological underpinnings and environmental influences and have also provided additional insight into the possible mechanism of action of triptans.
