Abstract
We report a case of nonconvulsive status epilepticus presenting as recurring episodes of altered mental status before and after bone marrow transplantation for multiple myeloma. Early recognition of nonconvulsive status epilepticus as a cause of altered mental status is important, because prompt treatment with anti-epileptic medications may improve neurologic outcome. EEG is the essential diagnostic test in the evaluation of the disturbance of the level of consciousness in patients undergoing the transplantation procedure.
