Abstract

The approaches to count, size and evaluate the shape of transversely cut myelinated fibers of nerves or fiber tracts by computer imaging are discussed. Such approaches are needed to quantitatively describe cellular events which can then be related to electrophysiological events, to development, to aging and to pathological processes.
