Abstract
Common complications of liver disease encountered on the waiting list include ascites, hyponatraemia, hepatic encephalopathy, infections, renal failure, variceal bleeding and malnutrition. Immunisations are also important in the care of patients with chronic liver disease. Optimising the management of patients on the waiting list is important in order to comprehensively improve outcomes following liver transplantation.
