N2 - Magnetic resonance imaging provides excellent anatomic depiction of the liver and important information about focal and diffuse diseases that affect this organ. In this report, the current clinical applications of magnetic resonance imaging of the liver in patients with known or suspected hepatic metastatic lesions, hepatocellular carcinoma, cavernous hemangiomas, focal fatty infiltration, focal nodular hyperplasia, hepatic adenoma, regenerative nodules in hepatic cirrhosis, or iron overload are reviewed, and the limitations of the technique are discussed.
