Abstract
Pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantations have been associated with multiple potential complications. Especially concerning complications include cardiac perforation, pneumothorax, cardiovascular implantable electronic device infections, thromboembolism, and bleeding. Many pacemaker and ICD complications can be reduced by careful attention to implantation technique.
