Abstract

Reports of conversion hysteria have consistently demonstrated the efficacy of hypnosis in treatment. Kampman and Kuha (1975) reported four cases of conversion hysteria treated with hypnoanalysis. Fogel (1976) employed hypnotic suggestion in the successful treatment of three cases of “psychogenic tremor and asomatognosia.” Kroger (1977) reported the treatment of two cases of hysterical spasmodic torticollis via hypnotic manipulation of symptoms. Kroger also noted that hysterical contractures may be treated in a similar manner.
