Abstract

Three patients had partial seizures heralded by gustatory hallucinations. The only associated ictal event was unilateral sensory symptoms. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a structural abnormality encompassing the insular cortex and the peri-insular region in each patient. The phenomenology suggested gustatory and second sensory area seizures related to insular pathology.
