Abstract

The role of genetic factors in the pathogenesis of idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDC) is unknown. Although IDC usually is sporadic, families with more than 1 affected member have been observed. This study determines the proportion of familial cases of IDC in a retrospective series of 169 patients.
