Abstract

After selective deep ductal cannulation, mastering different sphincterotomy techniques is a fundamental skill for the safe and effective practice of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. In this review, we will discuss the indications, techniques, challenges, alternatives, and adverse events of endoscopic sphincterotomy, with a special focus on techniques.
