Abstract

This study shows that a large proportion of patients on hemodialysis who have no clinical evidence of neuropathy may be shown to have a mild neuropathy when studied by neurophysiologic and morphometric methods. Determination of thermal discrimination and of pricking pain threshold did not provide evidence of uremic peripheral neuropathy. There was good agreement between the results of nerve conduction and morphometric abnormalities.
