Comment on optical theorem in heavy ion scattering

Abstract

The difference cross section given by the optical theorem (generalized to charged systems) is shown to have oscillations as a general property. While not arising from any specific behavior of the deflection function, these oscillations are shown to be enhanced when glory scattering of heavy ions occurs.
