Abstract

In this paper, we show three types of challenges that are present in shear wave elastography methods due to detection and interaction of shear waves in different types of tissue. The challenges we present are: artifacts due to presence of very stiff and reflective objects (i.e. calcifications), speed estimation difficulties in regions with very high stiffness and shear wave tracking in and below regions with high attenuation. Phantom and in-vivo images are shown to demonstrate these effects.
