Abstract
The biology of T cells is reviewed. T-cell ontogeny, differentiation of effector functions, tolerance, memory, senescence, and the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate T-cell mediated immune responses are discussed with consideration to their applicability to human disease pathogenesis. As appropriate, new paradigms or paradigm shifts are presented.
