Abstract

The contact area of an unconstrained metacarpophalangeal (MCP) prosthesis was measured using a magnetic tracking system and geometric models of the prosthesis. The contact area of the prosthesis ranged from 54 mm2 at the maximally flexed and extended positions to 68 mm2 in the middle of the range of motion.
