Abstract

Knowledge of cardiac anatomy forms the backbone of clinical cardiovascular medicine. Clinical examination of the patient, surgical intervention and imaging techniques, and examination of cardiac tissues are meaningless without an appreciation of basic anatomy. This chapter reviews the gross, light microscopic and ultrastructural anatomy of cardiovascular tissues. Methods of heart and blood vessels examination are discussed.
