Airway epithelial compression: A stimulus for airway remodeling in asthma

Abstract

Airway epithelial compression was studied as a stimulus for airway remodeling in asthma. The expression of heparin binding epidermal growth factor was discussed and a detailed analysis of endothelin gene expression and protein secretion was presented. It was shown that differentiated bronchial epithelial cells respond to the application of a compressive stress.
