Abstract

Vascular complications are common after large-bore percutaneous access, for which reason contemporary, safe vascular access techniques should be routinely used. This chapter summarizes contemporary vascular access techniques, including procedural planning, adequate site selection, and access using both ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance, as well as strategies to prepare and/or manage vascular complications.
