[2] Specific methodological approaches to selected contemporary issues in deconvolution analysis of pulsatile neuroendocrine data

Abstract

This chapter has been designed to address important technical queries that arise in the course of carrying out deconvolution analysis of neuroendocrine data. We have stated a variety of contemporary technical controversies, issues, and limitations and in some cases offered possible solutions. Solutions were rarely if ever singular, and rarely if ever absolutely definitive. Indeed, the evolving complexities of deconvolution analysis applied to in vivo neuroendocrine data raise many novel and interesting challenges, while beginning to answer only a few questions. Nonetheless, we believe that the systematic and explicit appraisal of technical hurdles is an essential first step toward methodological advances. Consequently, we hope that the foregoing technical essay will help to clarify, stimulate, and in some cases address contemporary issues and obstacles in the timely and progressive domain of deconvolution analysis of neuroendocrine data.
