RISK OF COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT AND DEMENTIA IN TOTAL JOINT ARTHROPLASTY

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE The number of individuals living with artificial hip or knee implants is rapidly increasing. There is growing concern about the long-term safety of artificial hip or knee implants, particularly the risk of neurotoxicity due to systemic distribution of metal and plastic debris from implants. We will utilize large, well-characterized cohorts to examine the risk of dementia and cognitive impairment in total joint arthroplasty patients.
