Project Narrative
Understanding the genetic basis of common diseases, such as cancers, heart disease, or even response to
vaccinations, is essential to realize the broad benefits of personalized medicine. Despite rapid progress in
genomic technologies, there are many gaps in how different types of genomic and phenotype data are
integrated and analyzed to gain knowledge. The goals of this Maximizing Investigators Research Award are to
develop novel statistical and computational methods to integrate different types of data, provide useful
software tools to the scientific community, and apply new methods to existing data sets to better understand
the genetic basis of human diseases and traits and predict disease risk.
