Impact of membrane composition on cholecystokinin receptor structure and function

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Project Narrative Obesity is a major public health problem around the world, however effective prevention and long-term management are suboptimal. This project is focused on a receptor for a GI hormone that mediates post-cibal satiety, but that is negatively affected by elevated cholesterol in the membrane, which can be present in obesity. In this project, we will explore the physical and functional basis for this lipid sensitivity, in hopes of gaining insights to correct the abnormal responsiveness to this satiety agent.
