Fat in Pancreatitis - a Focus on Hypertriglyceridemic Pancreatitis

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

PROJECT NARRATIVE: Here we study how elevated serum triglycerides worsen pancreatitis severity by being cleaved to unsaturated ω6, ω9 fatty acids via pancreatic and lipoprotein lipase, and how the dietary replacement of these fats by ω3 or saturated fats, or inhibition of lipases may reduce the severity of hypertriglyceridemia associated pancreatitis.
